|Six days on the hills of Lucca|
For a native of Lucca, madly in love with his city since the day he was born, to actually write about a holiday in Lucca is truly no mean feat. There is considerable inner conflict: on one hand I would like to be a poet, capable of describing it as I see it, on the other I seem too poetic and run the risk of creating false expectations for anyone coming to visit. In any case I can assure you that anyone who comes across it excited. Many would like to come and settle here and they ask me all about it, confirming that they too have felt the same as me while walking or cycling through the historical centre or the countryside.
At this point I ought to mention the beautiful landscapes, the goodness of the products of the territory, the culinary traditions etc. but, as I said previously, I wouldn’t like to create false expectations. And so, I simply invite you to come and visit and I give you my word that we’ll meet and experience the very best that my land has to offer, disclosing the little secrets that we Lucchese guard so zealously, but please don’t tell my fellow citizens!
