Immagine_127For a native of Lucca, madly in love with his city since the day he was born, to actually write about a holiday in Lucca is truly no mean feat. There is considerable inner conflict: on one hand I would like to be a poet, capable of describing it as I see it, on the other I seem too poetic and run the risk of creating false expectations for anyone coming to visit. In any case I can assure you that anyone who comes across it excited. Many would like to come and settle here and they ask me all about it, confirming that they too have felt the same as me while walking or cycling through the historical centre or the countryside.

At this point I ought to mention the beautiful landscapes, the goodness of the products of the territory, the culinary traditions etc. but, as I said previously, I wouldn’t like to create false expectations. And so, I simply invite you to come and visit and I give you my word that we’ll meet and experience the very best that my land has to offer, disclosing the little secrets that we Lucchese guard so zealously, but please don’t tell my fellow citizens!

DAY 1 Arrival at Hotel Tenuta San Pietro
After a bit of relax, delivery and set-up of the bicycle. At 8 p.m., evening cocktail with a presentation of the schedule and then a Maremma style dinner prepared by our chef, accompanied by a selection of local wines.

DAY 2   Lucca
In a few miles we're in Lucca; after a must-see tour around the city walls and a swift walk, we start some serious cycling up the splendid hills of Lucca, with their  pictoresque landscape livened by vineyards, olive groves, forests, small towns, and breathtaking sighsteeing visits.
At the end of the tour, a stop at a wine-making company in Montecarlo, with wine tasting and snacks. Dinner in the hotel with traditional recipes of Lucca.

DAY 3  Forte dei Marmi
Nozzano Castello, Massaciuccoli, Pitoro, Camaiore, Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi are the spellbinding towns we meet along the way. A beautiful beach resort awaits at the end for well-earned relax on the seashore and a delicious brunch on the sea.
In the afternoon, those who wish may stay on the beach, or a shopping spree in Forte dei Marmi. Possibility of stopping for dinner at the Lorenzo Restaurant of Forte dei Marmi.

DAY 4   The Cinque Terre
At 9:30 a.m., departure by minivan to Portovenere, where our cycling begins along the panoramic road of the Cinque Terre. A boat awaits us at our arrival in Monterosso to return to Portovenere. While cruising, we enjoy a nice bath in the clear waters of the gulf to gather up from the fatigue and get rid of any lactic acid; lots of sun and visit to the five villages.
Aperitif in town and transfer by speedboat to the Lorena inn on the Palmaria Island for our dinner on  the terrace with view on Portovenere at sunset.

DAY 5  Pisa
After a pleasant bike-ride to get to Pisa, you can't miss out on a snapshot beneath the Leaning Tower and not take a brief go-around the city, to then make your way to a wine cellar of the magnificent countryside to taste the wines of the Hills of Pisa. Dinner at the hotel with traditional dishes and wines from Pisa.

DAY 6  Departure
In the morning a nice breakfast and the final view on the enchanting landscape, we unfortunately we have to say goodbye.
