Andalusia Gravel Adventure

What Awaits You?

There’s an Andalusia that smells of freedom, ocean breeze, and gravel roads cutting through olive groves and nature reserves. This is the Andalusia you will discover with us: an unforgettable gravel journey, a loop starting and ending in Seville, passing through places that reveal the true essence of southern Spain.

Eight days of adventure and exploration, with just the right amount of effort and plenty of satisfaction. It’s not just about racking up kilometers, but about experiencing every moment, from riding along the Atlantic shoreline to sipping sherry in a historic bodega.

We’ll start from Seville, the vibrant heart of Andalusia, and pedal towards El Rocío, a village frozen in time, with sandy streets and horses tied to hitching posts instead of cars.
Then, we head down to the ocean for an unforgettable stage: 40 km on the beach, riding along the hard sand during low tide, with the sound of waves and the salty ocean breeze accompanying every pedal stroke.

We’ll reach Sanlúcar de Barrameda, home of manzanilla wine and seaside tapas, before moving on to Cadiz, one of Europe’s oldest port cities, with its lively old town and stunning sunset over the harbor.
From there, we’ll turn inland towards Jerez de la Frontera, the land of sherry and flamenco, before closing the loop and returning to Seville.

But the journey doesn't end with the last ride: we’ll spend two nights in Seville, giving you time to enjoy the city at your own pace. We’ll wander through the Cathedral and the Alcázar, get lost in the narrow streets of the Barrio de Santa Cruz, savor the best Andalusian cuisine, and, in the evening, experience the soul-stirring power of a flamenco show.

Stages

Day 1
Arrival in Seville: Welcome to Andalusia

Our adventure begins in Seville, the vibrant heart of Andalusia. After traveling and checking into the hotel, we settle into our rooms and have some free time to relax or take a first stroll around the city.

The city welcomes us with its lively streets, bustling squares, and the aroma of tapas and jamón coming from the bars. If you’re eager to stretch your legs, you can walk past the Cathedral, the Giralda, and the Santa Cruz neighborhood, or simply sit at a terrace and soak in the warm, vibrant Andalusian atmosphere.

In the evening, we dive straight into the soul of Andalusian culture:
we head to the iconic Triana Market, located in one of Seville’s most authentic and traditional neighborhoods, along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Here, we experience an intense and passionate flamenco show, with guitar, singing, and the rhythmic tap dance of the performers.
This is not just a performance—it’s pure emotion, the essence of Andalusia unfolding before our eyes.

After the show, we enjoy a traditional Sevillian dinner at a local tavern, featuring classics like salmorejo, jamón ibérico, pescaíto frito, and perhaps a glass of fino to toast to the beginning of this cycling and cultural journey.

Return to the hotel and first night in Seville, with the flavors and sounds of Andalusia already in our hearts.

Day 1 Highlights:

Arrival in Seville and hotel check-in
Free time to explore the city and its monuments
Flamenco show at Triana Market
Traditional Andalusian dinner in a local tavern

Day 2
Siviglia / El Rocío

Our journey begins in the vibrant heart of Andalusia, Seville, but it only takes a few kilometers to leave the city behind and immerse ourselves in a completely different landscape. The noise fades away, and we find ourselves surrounded by the Andalusian countryside, with red dirt paths, olive groves, and wide-open horizons.

The route is smooth and rolling, mainly on quiet roads and gravel tracks, with gentle elevation changes. It’s a perfect stage to warm up the legs without any tough climbs. The scent of the fields and the mild November sun set the perfect mood for the start of our adventure.

Midway, we enter the stunning Doñana Natural Park, one of Europe’s most important nature reserves. The scenery is a mix of pine forests, sandy trails, and wildlife. This is gravel cycling at its best: fast-rolling tracks and a real sense of freedom.
Suddenly, El Rocío appears, like a town from another era. A village with sandy streets and horses tied in front of bars instead of cars, where time seems to stand still. It is famous for the Romería del Rocío, one of Spain’s most significant religious pilgrimages.

After settling in, we’ll take a stroll through the dusty streets, and perhaps enjoy a cold beer and some tapas in one of the rustic bars. Dinner will introduce us to the local flavors of Andalusia, while we relax before the next day’s iconic beach ride.

Stage Highlights:
Entry into Doñana Natural Park
Fast gravel tracks through olive groves and pine forests
Arrival at the unique village of El Rocío

Terrain: 70% gravel – 30% asphalt
Difficulty: Easy – Perfect for warming up and getting comfortable with the terrain.

Day 3
El Rocío / Sanlúcar de Barrameda

This is the stage you will never forget. One of those rides you’ll talk about for years because cycling along the Atlantic shoreline is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We leave El Rocío, with the soft sound of sand under our tires, and soon find ourselves deep in the heart of Doñana National Park, one of Europe’s most protected and wild natural areas. The landscape is surreal: vast open spaces, low dunes, Mediterranean scrub, and if we’re lucky, deer or flamingos crossing our path.

After a few kilometers on gravel roads and compact trails, we reach the highlight of the day: the beach.
Thanks to the low tide, we will ride almost 40 km along the shoreline, with the ocean to our left and the dunes to our right.
The sand is firm and surprisingly easy to ride on, the sea breeze cools us, and the sound of the waves is our soundtrack.
Just you, your bike, and the Atlantic—pure freedom.

After this incredible stretch, we arrive in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a lively town known for its seafood and manzanilla wine.
Here, we celebrate the day with fresh prawns and a cold glass of manzanilla, the signature sherry wine of the town.

In the evening, we soak up the authentic Andalusian vibe, wandering through the lively plazas and riverside taverns.

Stage Highlights:
40 km beach ride along the Atlantic Ocean
Crossing through Doñana National Park
Arrival in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, famous for its seafood and wine

Terrain: 60% beach – 40% gravel/compact dirt
Difficulty: Easy, but keep in mind the tide and wind conditions—an unforgettable experience with the right mindset!

Day 4
Sanlúcar de Barrameda / Cadice

Today’s ride is all about the sea, fishing villages, and the taste of fresh seafood and Andalusian wines. It’s a relaxed stage, combining cycling and a boat trip, with the Atlantic breeze always by our side.

We leave Sanlúcar de Barrameda, riding along quiet secondary roads and smooth gravel paths. The landscape is a blend of vineyards, pine forests, and fields, with the ocean occasionally peeking through on our left. The route is gently rolling, with short climbs and descents, keeping the ride lively but never too demanding.

After about 40 km, we reach El Puerto de Santa María, a charming port town famous for its sherry bodegas and seafood cuisine.
Here, we stop for a well-deserved lunch by the river Guadalete, with the chance to enjoy pescaíto frito (fried fish), clams, or red tuna, paired with a glass of fino or manzanilla.

In the afternoon, the adventure takes on a different rhythm:
We board a ferry with our bikes, crossing the bay in about 30 minutes, towards Cadiz.
From the water, the view is stunning: the city appears like an island, with its golden cathedral, white towers, and old harbor welcoming us.

Once ashore, we settle into our hotel and have time to explore Cadiz:
Wander through its narrow alleys, enjoy the lively squares, or stroll along the Campo del Sur promenade, with the Atlantic waves crashing on the rocks below.

The evening invites us to savor more tapas and seafood, perhaps ending the day with a sunset walk to the Castle of San Sebastián, watching the sun dip into the ocean.

Stage Highlights:
Scenic ride along the coast through vineyards and pine forests
Lunch stop in El Puerto de Santa María with seafood and sherry
Ferry crossing with spectacular views of Cadiz
Free time to discover the historic charm of Cadiz

Terrain:
70% asphalt – 30% compact gravel
Difficulty: Easy – A shorter, enjoyable stage with plenty of time to relax and soak in the Andalusian atmosphere.

Day 5
Cadice / Jerez de la Frontera

After waking up to the Atlantic breeze and a stroll through the charming streets of Cadiz, we get back on our bikes, leaving the sea behind and heading inland towards Jerez de la Frontera, the land of vineyards, wineries, and flamenco.

We start from Cadiz, following the coast along the bay, with the sound of the ocean still accompanying us. The first kilometers are flat and easy, on secondary roads and bike paths, leading us into the Parque Natural Bahía de Cádiz, a unique landscape of salt flats and waterways, often home to flamingos and herons.

Once we leave the coast, the scenery shifts: rolling hills and vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. These gentle climbs are pleasant and rewarding, giving us time to soak in the peaceful Andalusian countryside.

After about 65 km, we reach Jerez de la Frontera, a refined city world-famous for its sherry wine and deep flamenco roots.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit one of the town’s historic bodegas, learning the secrets of fino and amontillado wines.
And for those interested, there’s the chance to visit a tablao and witness a flamenco rehearsal, feeling the passion of Andalusian culture through rhythm and dance.

The day ends with a traditional dinner, including grilled meats, tapas, and, of course, a glass of Jerez wine to toast to the day’s ride.

Stage Highlights:

Ride along the Bay of Cadiz
Pass through the Parque Natural Bahía de Cádiz – Salt flats and flamingos
Rolling hills and vineyards in the heart of sherry country
Arrival in Jerez de la Frontera: bodega visit and flamenco atmosphere

Terrain: 80% asphalt – 20% compact gravel
Difficulty: Easy/Moderate – Longer distance but gentle climbs and enjoyable pace.

Day 6
Jerez de la Frontera / Los Palacios y Villafranca

Our final stage on the bike takes us back toward Seville, riding through the Andalusian countryside, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and farmland.

We leave Jerez with a relaxed pace, enjoying the gentle hills and rural scenery. The route is mostly on paved roads, with some gravel sections, and short, easy climbs that allow us to appreciate the landscape without pushing too hard.

We gradually approach Los Palacios y Villafranca, a small farming town known for its agricultural production and authentic local atmosphere.
Here, we end our ride and board a private bus for a comfortable transfer back to Seville, which takes approximately 30 minutes.

Once in Seville, we have the rest of the afternoon free to explore the city, visit its monuments, shop, or relax with tapas and a cold beer.
In the evening, those who wish can gather for a final toast or attend one last flamenco show, celebrating the end of an unforgettable adventure.

Arrival in Los Palacios y Villafranca, a charming rural town
Comfortable private bus transfer to Seville
Free afternoon in Seville for sightseeing, shopping, or tapas
